Emacs setup
Emacs vs nvim
I began using emacs when a friend of mine bullied me into it. I had fiddled with emacs before but never lasted on it for a long time. I tried Doom, spacemacs, and whatnot, but it was always annoying to not have something that I wanted (Heck, I still want those buffer tabs).
This time however, I followed the guide by systemcrafters and that helped me improve a lot on how to set up emacs. I wanted that thing where the mini-buffer is displayed as a separate bar on the top but that doesn't work properly on PGTK built systems. I have set up plenty of customizations now, and even converted all my notes into org-mode, which is really amazing to say the least.
I kind of miss the neatness of neovim though, that community seems really vibrant. And still looking for that day when helix plugin system stabilizes.
Nvm I just figured out how to use centaur tabs and it looks good to say the least. Ok. Now it's fully configured. So nice!
Emacs is pretty versatile but lacks development in a few things. For once it hangs a lot. I tried to do stuff with it that doesn't make it hang but idek where to begin finding the root cause of it.
Apart from that it's a great tool in need of a better elisp interpreter. Rune is a good idea and a good project, will check it out some time. That's for sure.
Emacs as an OS
I'm always on a lookout to use emacs completely but never follow up with it ;( which is quite sad but there's little I can do about it. I want to try out things but at the same time not give up on wayland which is a very important feature. So far I've tried eww, which isn't that good as I like zen more. Zen is an amazing browser I must say. For feed reader though, I really like elfeed though I also liked gnome feed reader but that always seemed to lose my feed for some reason :(.
I really like the idea of EXWM though. And the fact that systemcrafters starts with a terminal on his window every single time. I want that feature somehow. I really do.
